Bone-A-Fide Dog training is a professional yet personal way to reach goals you have with your dog.  Whether it's aggression, bad manners with company, starting from scratch, or building additional skills for an already trained dog... I'll help!
My name is Kimberly Low, CPDT-KA and I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Saint Mary (2004).  Growing up working with large animals,  I have always had a passion for animals and their behavior.  Following a career path that allows me to explore that avenue just came naturally!  I thoroughly enjoy working with dogs and their owners and am committed to helping them learn to live well together!  I know that the majority of problem behaviors can be both prevented and treated by not only training, but by enhancing the working knowledge owners have of canine behavior.
In my professional career after college, I was a training instructor for PetSmart in Shawnee Kansas for 4 years, (2 years as a general instructor,  2 years as an Area Pet Training Instructor).  In this capacity, I was responsible for the teaching of classes and for the training/certification of prospective trainers for other PetSmart locations within the Omaha, Kansas City (KS/MO), and Wichita area.
I am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (through the Certification Council for Pet Dog Training, the only international certification organization), a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). I have also held certification with the American Kennel Club as a Canine Good Citizen(CGC) evaluator.
I own 2 dogs of my own, both CGCs and have participated in therapy work with the elder of the 2.
As far as methodology is concerned,  I utilize positive reinforcement/negative punishment... a fancy description for "ignore the bad, reward the good".  Hands down, it has been shown that this is the most effective way to train dogs!  While it takes some a while to really accept the idea and learn how to use it, I have NEVER had a client say they would go back to choke/prong collars.  Give it a fair chance and you will see the results and the way it builds trust and reliability in your relationship with your dog!
